Charleston-native Shelby Rogers claimed a victory in the first round of the Volvo Car Open on Tuesday.
Rogers (No. 52, WTA) defeated Kristina Mladenovic of France (No. 55, WTA) in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
Rogers now will face WTA No. 33-ranked Amanda Anisimova on Wednesday in the round of 32.
Asinimova defeated Poland's Magda Linette in three sets (5-7, 6-2, 6-3) Tuesday to advance in the tournament.

The two will battle in Wednesday's featured match from the Althea Gibson Club Court, with a tentative start time of 8:15 p.m.
