HILTON HEAD, S.C. (WCIV) — A couple of shark enthusiasts got up close and personal with a great white off the coast of South Carolina this week.

Capt. Chip Michalove with Outcast Charters of Hilton Head shared an incredible photo of his crews efforts to reel in the shark.

In a Twitter post, Capt. Michalove said that the shark was about 12 feet long. They tagged the shark for scientific research, and released it back into the water.

Michalove said that the shark grabbed bait on two different rods while the crew's backs were turned.
