From being a former baseball and football star to being in the school’s hall of fame, there wasn’t much Tony Skole hadn’t done in his athletic career at The Citadel.
That’s until he was named head baseball coach two weeks ago, replacing Freddie Jordan..
Skole finally arrived on campus Tuesday, and got back the No. 7 jersey he famously wore for the Bulldogs when he led them to Omaha as a player.
Now, Skole takes over as skipper for a program that has hit a skid the past five years.
Skole, meanwhile, hasn’t exactly been rewriting the record books. His teams have posted a sub-.500 record at East Tennessee State over the past 18 years.
Still, Skole said Tuesday his best coaching is still ahead of him.
