The No. 1 and No. 2 boys soccer teams in America – yes, the entire country – squared off Tuesday night, and they weren’t even playing for a state championship.
Wando remained undefeated and pitched its 10th straight shutout in a 1-0 win over River Bluff Tuesday to claim the Lower State Championship and earn a trip to the state title game against Greenville’s J.L. Mann Saturday in Columbia.
Meanwhile, Academic Magnet's and Palmetto Scholars Academy's boys teams both advanced to the state title game in their divisions. Academic Magnet beat Silver Bluff, 5-0, and Palmetto Scholars beat Charleston Math & Science, 4-1.
Bishop England lost, 4-2, in overtime to Bluffton.
