The Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim Jewish Congregation in Charleston announced a time capsule potentially dating back to the 1800s may have been found in the synagogue.

Synagogue historians believe it was a time capsule constructed into the wall of their new synagogue, which was built in 1840.

The groundskeeper found it two weeks ago by accident, and it has been sent out for authentication, synagogue officials said.
