Two people were hospitalized after a shooting Wednesday night in Walterboro, authorities say.

The shooting happened around 8:40 p.m. at the Wash & Shine car wash on Hampton Street, according to Walterboro PD public information officer, Lt. Amye Stivender.

Police say the first victim was located several blocks away from the scene at an address on Francis Street. Police say he was shot multiple times in one of his legs.

The victim's injuries were suspected to be life threatening, and he was taken by Colleton County Fire-Rescue EMS to Trident Medical Center in North Charleston for treatment.

As police were at the car wash gathering evidence, a second victim with a gunshot wound to one of his feet showed up at the Colleton Medical Center, according to Stivender.

Both men told officers they knew neither who shot them nor where the shots came from.

Walterboro Police say the case remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.
