Katie Blomquist has dedicated her life to provide joy to children in Title 1 schools, in the form of bicycles.
Blomquist's non-profit organization, Going Places will donate 560 bikes to children at two different Charleston-area schools this week.
Volunteers helped her build a variety of bikes Sunday morning at "Affordabike," a bicycle shop downtown on 234 King Street.
The bikes vary in sizes, fitting children in all grades.
Blomquist says construction of the bikes were delayed due to shipping issues.
Over the weekend she and many volunteers worked for 8 hours each day to make sure all 560 bikes will be ready for delivery.
On June 5, some of the bikes will be delivered to Frierson Elementary.
The rest will be dropped off to Sanders-Clyde Elementary on June 6.
Blomquist says she will need volunteers to help deliver the bikes on June 6 to Sanders-Clyde Elementary.
Those volunteers will need to meet outside of the school at 7 a.m. on America Street.
