Victim identified in Redwood Street shooting Tuesday, 32nd North Charleston murder of 2017


An 18-year-old has been identified as the victim in a deadly shooting Tuesday in North Charleston's Chicora-Cherokee neighborhood. It is the 32nd murder of the year in the city, according to North Charleston Police.

According to the Charleston County Coroner's Office, Willie Lee Duggans, 18, of North Charleston died as a result of the Tuesday afternoon shooting on Redwood Street.

North Charleston Police report that responding officers found Duggans lying on the porch of an apartment, suffering gunshot wounds to his chest. Duggans was pronounced dead at the scene.

In addition to the 32 murder cases in the city this year, North Charleston Police say there also have been two justifiable homicides.

In 2016, police say there were 29 murders and four justifiable homicides in North Charleston.
