A fatal car crash in Columbia claimed the lives of twin brothers, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Donald and Ronald Smith, 29, died after their car lost control while speeding in the rain.

Investigators said the accident happened at the 4400 block of Farrow Road around 11:30 p.m. on Monday.

The driver was driving southbound on Farrow Road when the vehicle went off the road and crashed into a pole.

WACH FOX News spoke to members of the family, who are shocked that something so devastating could happen to them.

"They were funny. They were loved. They were very respectful," Dianne Smith, the twins' mother, said.

Donald is survived by his 12-year-old daughter, Jynasia Smith.

"We just went from planning a wedding to planning two funerals, so it's hard," Amanda Smith, the cousin of the victims, said.

The case remains under investigation by CPD's Traffic Safety Unit.

Meanwhile, loved ones continue to cherish the memories they've had with the twins.

"Gonna miss them playing jokes on us. They were identical twins and they played us to laugh a lot," the victims' grandmother told WACH FOX News.

A GoFundMe Page has been set up to help with funeral expenses.

"I tell them how much I love them... I call them everyday to tell them. And now I can't call them no more to tell them that," said Dianne.
