Officials with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office say a standoff has ended involving their deputies and a person barricaded inside a home on Dillway Street in West Ashley.
Shortly after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, the sheriff's office said its SWAT and negotiator teams were on the way to the scene. As of 10:15, officials told ABC News 4 the standoff had ended.
Dillway Street was closed for several hours as the situation unfolded, but has since reopened.
Lt. Rita Zelinsky, acting public information officer for the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, says the situation began as shortly after 5 p.m. as a medical welfare check on woman.
Deputies say the woman barricaded herself inside the home and refused to let anyone in when they arrived.
Zelinsky says the woman's family members were there helping officers negotiate w woman, but deputies ended up having to force their way inside the home.
Zelinsky says the woman was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and will not be charged with a crime.
