Summerville Walmart scooter thief arrested for burglary, drugs

Remember the video of the kid who stole a mobility scooter from the Walmart in Summerville?

Police let him go that day after Walmart staff declined to press charges, but the teen has found himself in jail nonetheless.

Berkeley County Sheriff's Office deputies say Andrew Thomas Ranly, 17, broke into a home on General Dennis Drive in Sumerville on Saturday, Aug. 4.

Ranly was arrested after a brief search, and deputies say he had Xanax and marijuana.

Ranly remains in jail at the Berkeley County Detention Center, charged with burglary and drug possession. A judge has set his bond at $30,000.
