COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) - A daughter of a Colleton County child murder suspect has been arrested after leaving her own two children in a car while shopping, Walterboro Police say.

Ashley Pangalangan, 30, was arrested Monday afternoon outside the Walmart Supercenter on Bells Highway in Walterboro, after police say she left her 7-year-old and 6-month-old children in a vehicle while shopping.

Police say the vehicle's engine was running while the children were inside the car, but the vehicle’s air conditioning was not working properly.

Ashley Pangalangan has been arrested and charged with unlawful conduct toward a child, according to Walterboro Police spokesperson Lt. Amye Stivender.

The children have been placed in emergency protective custody, Stivender says.

Ashley Pangalangan is the daughter of Rita Pangalangan, 49.

The elder Pangalangan was arrested on a murder charge Monday, August 5, alongside her boyfriend, Larry E. King, Jr. for the death of another of her daughters.

The couple are accused by Colleton County Sheriff's Office investigators of leaving 13-year-old Cristina Pangalangan inside a vehicle for five hours, leading to the child's death.

Cristina Pangalangan had special needs and was incapable of taking care of herself, investigators said.
