Colleton County authorities are investigating a potential arson case after a blaze Monday at a Walterboro home which had been damaged by fire only three months earlier.

Colleton County Fire-Rescue reports firefighters found the home, which sits along the 300 block of Enterprise Street, engulfed in flames shortly after noon on Monday, Aug. 20.

The same home had been heavily damaged by a "suspicious" fire back in early May, and was thankfully unoccupied at the time of Monday's incident, Fire-Rescue officials say.

After about 20 minutes of battling the flames, investigators were able to safely enter the structure, at which point the fire department reports finding evidence the fire was intentionally set.

Arson investigators from SLED and the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office have taken over the investigation.
