Charleston County Sheriff's Office investigators say a woman is in the hospital after being shot in the stomach inside her James Island home early Tuesday morning.
Deputies arrived around 3 a.m. to find the woman wounded inside her home along the 1000 block of Greenhill Road, the sheriff's office says.
Whoever fired the gunshots did so from outside the woman's home, investigators say. Deputies found several spent shell casings lying in the road in front of the residence.
Investigators are working to determine a motive for the shooting, and how it may be connected to another deadly shooting on Greenhill Road June 10. Detectives believe that the incidents are related.
