Authorities in North Carolina are investigating a man South Carolina police say admitted to sexually abusing numerous children at NewSpring Church in North Charleston.

The Davidson (NC) Police Dept. said Tuesday it is investigating after receiving Monday, Dec. 3, an allegation against Jacop Hazlett.

According to a Davidson PD incident report, a 7-year-old boy claims he was assaulted by Hazlett in the past.

Davidson PD did not elaborate further on the allegation, or say where it may have taken place.

Hazlett, 28, is in jail at the Dorchester County (SC) Detention Center, charged with nine counts of first and third degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Hazlett was arrested Nov. 27, after North Charleston Police say he was shown on video sexually assaulting a 3-year-old boy at NewSpring Church's North Charleston campus on Sunday, Nov. 25.

Further review of surveillance video and detective interviews with Hazlett led to the discovery of at least eight additional sexual assaults against children, North Charleston Police affidavits say.

A civil lawsuit filed Wednesday, Nov. 28, accuses Hazlett of molesting at least 14 children over a 90 day period while he was volunteering at the church.

Moore has other ties to North Carolina, where NBC affiliate WCNC-TV reports he was a volunteer at The Cove Church.
