An 18-year-old from Goose Creek charged in December with robbing and sexually assaulting his 81-year-old neighbor at knife-point is now accused of trying to orchestrate a murder for hire scheme.

Aaron McKenzie Capers, 18, has been charged by the S.C. Law Enforcement Division (SLED) with solicitation to commit a felony.

SLED says Capers tried to hire someone to kill an unnamed person, offering $2,500 for the hit.

The new charge comes as Capers is still in jail at the Berkeley County Detention Center. A judge denied him bond on all charges related to the December incident. A judge has set his bond on the new solicitation charge at $100,000.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
