Boy, 3, killed in Dorchester County hit-and-run Monday night

Dorchester County's Coroner says the victim of a Monday night hit-and-run in the Reevesville community was a 3-year-old boy.

Jayden Thiel, 3, was struck while in the roadway on U.S. Hwy. 78 at approximately 11:30 p.m. Monday near New Meadows Run, Coroner Paul Brouthers says. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle left the scene after striking the child. The make and model of the vehicle is unknown, according to Highway Patrol.

Highway Patrol says the boy was walking alone in the roadway when he was hit.

A witness on the scene told ABC News 4 she heard a neighbor screaming "That's my baby!"

The scene was cleared around 4:15 a.m. Tuesday.

The incident remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol and the Dorchester County Coroner's Office.
