CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WCIV) — Updated Report, August 13, 12 p.m. - Charlotte Mecklenburg Police said Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. Dior Muhammad and Edward S. Garner, Jr., have been located and are safe.
Police say they are still searching for Edward S. Garner, Sr., who is suspected of abducting his two daughters (ages 1 and 3) after murdering a woman at a Charlotte apartment on Monday night.
Original Report, August 13, 8:30 a.m. - North Carolina authorities are asking the public to watch out for two men and a child in connection to a double kidnapping and a murder.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are searching for missing child Dior Muhammad, a 3-year-old African American girl, as well as her father, Edward S. Garner, Sr., and his adult son, Edward S. Garner, Jr.
Police say Garner Sr. abducted his children Muhammad and 1-year-old Aziyah Garner late Monday night after shooting to death 28-year-old Aiesha S. Summers inside an apartment on Perugia Way in Charlotte.
Police said around 4 a.m. Tuesday they've since located Aziyah Garner, who was safe and unharmed. Police did not say where or the circumstances under which she was found. Dior Muhammad remains missing, along with Garner Sr. and his son.
Muhammad, 3, is described as 3-feet tall with black hair and brown eyes, weighing about 32 pounds. She was last seen wearing black pants and a gray shirt. Police have not provided a photo of her.
Garner Sr., 35, is described as a black male standing 6-feet-1, with short, brown hair, brown eyes and a goatee.
Garner Jr., 18, is described as a black male, 5-feet-8, with short, brown hair and brown eyes.
Garner Jr. was in his father's car at the time the incidents occurred, but it's unknown what role, if any, he's had in the overall events thus far, according to investigators.
The two are believed to be traveling in a White 2000 Mercedes Benz S430 with North Carolina license tag HCV-1629.
An AMBER Alert has been issued for Muhammad, the Garners and the vehicle.
