Kathryn Dennis, of Southern Charm fame, was given a traffic ticket from Mount Pleasant Police this week after an officer says she was at fault in a multi-car wreck.
According to police, Dennis rear-ended another vehicle on S.C. Hwy. 41 around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28 when a line of cars stopped in front of her in traffic.
Two juveniles were in the vehicle with Dennis at the time of the wreck, police say.
An incident report from police say Dennis' striking the second vehicle caused a chain reaction, with the second vehicle striking a third ahead, and the third vehicle then rear-ending a fourth.
Police say Dennis was going about 18 mph at the time of the collision. The other three vehicles were stopped.
According to police, air bags deployed in Dennis' vehicle, and in the first vehicle she hit. However, none of the occupants of the four vehicles involved were injured.
The officer who responded to the incident cited Dennis for following too closely. The officer said alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the collision.
Dennis was driving a 2019 Jeep SUV rented from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, per Mount Pleasant PD.
Earlier this month, Mount Pleasant Police responded to a previous crash involving Dennis.
Police say around 4:50 p.m. on August 2, Dennis left the roadway and went into the median along U.S. Hwy. 17, hitting a guardrail, three trees and two light poles.
Dennis said she became distracted by her children in the back seat at the time of the August 2 wreck, according to police. No one was injured in that incident, either.
Dennis is featured prominently in the Bravo television show, Southern Charm, which regularly films in the Charleston area.
